Education & Programs
If you are interested in becoming a Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioner, Professional Member or training in specific disciplines of sound therapy, we recommend any of the below education programs to complete and or begin your training.
Once you have completed at least 200 hours of training you can apply for your International Sound Therapy Association Certification. This proud certification shows others that you have completed a quality education and are part of a larger community raising the standards of Sound Education. Those practitioners wishing to join ISTA as a Professional Member can apply once they have reached 100 hours of training. You can learn more about the different ways to get involved with ISTA here.
Please note, to be considered for Certification through ISTA, you must complete 200 hours of training, this can be a single program that offers 200 hours or a combination of trainings specific to the art and science of sound healing that total 200 hours. Please review your curriculum and know how many hours of training your completed programs contain. Your training does not necessarily need to be from any of the schools listed below.
Education Program Listings
Below is a curated list of evidence based courses & programs that have been reviewed and approved by the ISTA Education Committee. These “evidence based” programs & courses incorporate instructional materials based on research in sound therapy and mind-body wellness. They are taught by published thought leaders, established speakers, or are rooted in evidence-based principles of sound therapy and wellness.
Please note that not all of the programs listed offer a full 200-hour training required for ISTA Certification. However, they can be used to supplement your current education in sound healing to meet the requirements for becoming an ISTA Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioner. Additionally, current ISTA Certified Practitioners may find these courses offer valuable continuing education opportunities.
This list is also provided as a public resource for those seeking quality foundational knowledge in the science and art of sound therapy, supported by research, published materials, and established mind-body wellness practices.
The education institutes below have been vetted by our ISTA education committee and chosen because of “evidenced based” criterion and their superior education curriculum in Sound Healing. Click an institute below to view more on their respective websites. ISTA Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioners must complete a minimum of 200 hours of training. This can be a combination of trainings or a single program that meets the criteria. Professional Members must complete at least 100 hours of training. ISTA Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioners education submissions during the application process may come from other sound healing educational institutions or programs that are not listed here.

Have a sound healing school or program that meets either the 200 hour or 100 hour ISTA requirements? Reach out and apply for inclusion in our ISTA Certified Education Programs. Upon confirmation that your course meets the required criterion, you will receive a link to a private page to order the appropriate seal. Submission of payment grants you use of the ISTA APPROVED PROVIDER seal for one year with an automatic subscription to continue using the seal. The educational institutions in boxes have elected to purchase a seal to display on their website.
