With Visiting Princeton Professor Wendy Young
Join Wendy Young for an immersive listening and learning experience to explore the multiple dimensions of the gong. After a short “gong bath,” Wendy will reveal the tools and techniques used to create specific effects. She will demonstrate a variety of mallet techniques, as well as ways to create a musical structure using tempo, patterns, and rhythm, in conjunction with your intuition. Learn how tuning your listening and deepening your interaction with sound can open up infinite possibilities with a single gong.
Through the mindful application of a wide variety of techniques, the gong becomes a versatile instrument that can be both delicately encompassing and profoundly transporting, while providing a powerful container for meditation and relaxation. The experience of a single, well-played gong can bring listeners inward into the deepest depths of their soul — and out into the vast reaches of the universe!
